Sunday, April 20, 2008 Sunburst 2008A delayed post... couldn't get pictures to come in on time.. Hehe. Few years ago when Incubus came I didn't get to watch them. This time, they came again to join the rest of the people who makes the music industry ALIVE N KICKING. Last minute decision to go cos I wanted to do something else instead...Oh well..I only enjoyed when Incubus came out because the rest were horribly disorganised. The organisers made a HUGE commotion with John Legend which made the crowd really unhappy, not to mention John Legend swearing on the background. Scary... Some made a comment about him being rude..But I supposed if you had a concert to run, and you soundman doesn't do his job properly, I'd be pissed too! He came out in the end, sweating profusely, but still had a BIG smile on his face :) And when he started on the piano, the rest were history, hahaha. Wonder how they got the grand piano on the stage...hmm.. It was clear that everyone was there to wait for these two big stars to come out towards the end of the show. They were cheering like they've never seen John Legend (well, it's John's first time in Malaysia anyway), while the rest were just singing ALOUD to Incubus' numbers ! At that point in time, I felt like I wanted to pick up a guitar too ! Heehee ! They played a good mixture of old and new songs, which I preferred the older ones.. They somehow sound nicer, haha. And finally us ! Happy and contended. Hee..
Elvira | The Attic At first sight, you'd never imagine this girl can sing. I know better, hehe. It was a long long time ago, when I fist heard her sing. Clueless and lost, I was called to replace some super good pianist whom I only know that his name is Raymond, don't even know what he looks like.. I went anyway. Feeling super lost cos WeiJin was busy meddling with his bass, Derrick was busy meddling with his electric and Jon was banging away on the drums! Me? I sat quietly at the piano, thinking, "Hurm.. what should I do?" Then, this bubbly girl comes and say, "Play something girl" I only stared back clueless... Kay la.. I wasn't that clueless, but just extremely shy.. Finally after an hour of 'syioking sendiri', the guys came to realisation that we had to PRACTICE! Ish...And this is one day before the carnival that we were to play for.. Well...everything turned out quite ok, although I still felt a little lost...I managed to play a couple of songs decently.. haha :) So this is about four years later! I got dragged to watch her sing. But I didn't regret, hehe. Thanks Abby (",) The Band in action ! And us before we left. On vocals : Elvira & Wei Li Piano and Violin : Wei Li Bass : Hiro
Sunday, April 13, 2008 Shout To The LordYou hardly would ever hear someone singing gospel music on national television, unless it's Amazing Grace, but I heard Shout To The Lord! And that was during the recent episode of American Idol. Not a person who follows the reality show, but off and on, I do take glimpses at the tele when family is watching. I remember having my headphones on, and I heard, "My Jesus, my saviour" ??? Hahaha. I thought I was hearing things. With the choir at the background, it really sounded like those church singing in Sister Act! Except they didn't have Whoopi Goldberg wasn't conducting the choir :p It really did sound like Darlene Dzech leading a worship session with back up singers! Heehee. I ironically, my brother was at the Planet Shakers concert in FGA..and he didn't ask me to go along.. :( Oh well, I got to listen to the American Idols sing Shout To The Lord. One my all time favourites and I liked how Ezra made the song sound even nicer with drop D tuning on the guitar. I miss singing . . . and jamming the most . . .
Saturday, April 12, 2008 We Met UpEh? Oh.. I'm back. After disappearing for a while. Yea, I'm still alive..Just a little tilted to the 'I'm dead' side. But getting better.. I miss uni. I miss the mamak where we used to hang out at everyday eating nasi lemak and chee cheong fun or just mix rice. Even if we had a 45-minute break we'd walk there, through the sun or rain. If we had more time, me and Christina will walk to Jaya (which is going to be demolished) I don't remember much of what we do there, but yea, we go there quite a lot during 2 hour breaks or more. Most of the time, she's run to the Starbucks inside Jaya, and buat some kacau with the people and after we've successfully mess the whole cafe up, we'd bid goodbye! Lalala, walk out of Starbucks like celebrities. Hahaha. Not to mention that we celebrate EVERY single person's birthday and its compulsory to humiliate them! I got one of the worst! But I think they were all memories worth cherishing..Try making your colleague stand on a chair at the mamak and sing them a birthday song! Or decorating their car with water colour! Oh, conduct a fund raising project!! Goodness, that was us..and still are. Heehee. Haven't seen them in ages and I decided to drop by at the very last minute..This was two Saturdays ago..at The Apartment, The Curve. Was kinda zoned out..but their laughters dragged me back into the happy atmosphere, thank GOD.
We're still as crazy as ever...I had fun laughing at everyone, although half the time I couldn't really understand what they were talking about..Yah, my Chinese gotten worse..Well, considering they are the only ones that I speak Chinese to, and I haven't seen them for eons! Like that lar... Hoping to see them real soon again... *huggs* you guys :)
